Witches Brew Halloween Punch (10 Minutes)
A bright green Halloween punch with pineapple juice, lime sherbet and fizzy soda, served with lime slices and gummy worms. A 10-minute party bowl.
Method
- Pour the pineapple juice and limeade into a large punch bowl and stir.
- Add the ice cubes and lime slices.
- Pour in the lemon-lime soda slowly so the fizz stays.
- Add scoops of lime sherbet to the top of the bowl. It will foam and melt into swirls.
- Stir in a few drops of green food colouring, if using, for a deeper green.
- Ladle into glasses and drape a gummy worm over the rim of each glass.

Chef notes
Keep every ingredient well chilled before mixing: a cold punch stays fizzy and the sherbet melts slowly, giving the foamy swirl effect. Add the soda last, just before serving.
Substitutions
- Lime sherbet — lemon sherbet with a few drops of green food colouring
- Pineapple juice — white grape juice, for a lighter colour
- Lemon-lime soda — ginger ale, for a less sweet punch
Serving suggestions
Serve from a punch bowl with a ladle, with lime slices and gummy worms on each glass, and extra ice on the side.
Storage
Keep leftover punch without sherbet in a covered jug in the fridge for up to 2 days; it will lose its fizz, so top up with fresh soda before serving again.
Reheating
No reheating needed; serve chilled. If the punch has warmed up, chill it again and add fresh ice and soda.
Equipment
- Large punch bowl
- Ladle
- Ice cream scoop
Variations
- Smoky cauldron: set the punch bowl inside a larger bowl of dry ice and water, keeping hands away from the dry ice
- Berry brew: swap the pineapple juice for cranberry juice for a deep red punch
- Single glasses: halve the recipe and build each glass with juice, soda and one small scoop of sherbet
Why it works
Lime sherbet melts slowly into chilled juice and soda, so the bowl foams and swirls green on its own, while the fizz keeps the drink light instead of syrupy.
Frequently asked questions
Can I make witches brew punch ahead?
Mix the pineapple juice and limeade up to a day ahead and chill, but add the soda, ice and sherbet just before serving so it stays fizzy and foamy.
How do I keep the punch green?
Use lime sherbet and, if needed, a few drops of green food colouring. Pineapple juice alone gives a yellow-green colour, so the colouring deepens it to brew green.
