Common questions
What does "5 minute" mean on this site?
It means the active time — the part where you are standing at the counter doing something. Where a recipe needs longer than that, the total is stated at the top of the page and the title says so. We corrected a batch of recipes that were published with timings that did not hold up, and we would rather lose the click than promise five minutes and cost you twenty-five.
How many categories are there?
There are 50 categories with at least one published recipe in them, listed in full on this page. Empty categories are not shown, so this count moves as recipes are added.
Are these recipes suitable for a beginner?
Most are. They use ordinary equipment and short ingredient lists, and the method is written one step per line. Where a recipe needs a particular pan or a technique worth explaining, that is in the equipment and chef notes sections rather than assumed.
Do I need special equipment?
Not for most of them. The air fryer and microwave categories are the exception, and those say so in the category name. Anything else a recipe needs is listed in its equipment section before you start.
Can I find recipes for a specific diet?
Yes. Vegan, vegetarian, high protein, healthy and weight loss each have their own category below. Individual recipes also carry dietary tags and an allergen list where the contributor supplied one.
Can these be made ahead or scaled up?
Many can. Each recipe page has a serving scaler that adjusts the ingredient quantities, and recipes that keep well have storage and reheating instructions. Recipes that genuinely do not keep say that instead.
